Which Silver Age DC Comics are Due to Rise in Price in 2025?
Even before the pandemic bubble burst, DC Silver Age comics lagged the general market.
For years, DC Comics have been overshadowed by the values of Silver Age Marvel issues.
You can point to the MCU for the reason. Disney has expanded the world of movies and TV shows featuring Marvel Comics characters, while DC Studios' output has stagnated.
There is some movement in that world at last.
Zack Snyder has defected to DC Studios.
There is talk about rapid expansion of the DCU, bringing in B- and C-list characters and teams in a range of movies and streaming shows.
With that in mind, here are our picks for under-valued DC Comics which have a chance to increase in value over the next several years.
If you recognize any of the books on this page and want to get yours valued free of charge, then get in touch. We will be happy to help. We also pay cash for collections.

Showcase #6
1st Challengers of the Unknown
Lowest price $150
Average price $1,200
Record price $26,400
Criminally under-valued. This is a book from 1957.
Challengers of the Unknown are the Fantastic Four of the DC Universe. Top of the CGC census are five 9.0 copies. An 8.5 sold in April 2024 for just $10K.
If (or when?) DC Studios makes a Challengers movie, this will finally get the attention it deserves.
Brave and the Bold #28
1st appearance of the Justice League of America
Lowest price $1,000
Average price $6,000
Record price $810,000
The first appearance of the JLA includes Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman.
It's the first super-team of the Silver Age, and a book which sometimes gets mixed in with a run of JLA comics, so worth checking issues #28-30 if you have a stack.
Batman #181
First Poison Ivy
Lowest price $100
Average price $1,100
Record price $96,000
Poison Ivy is one of the sexiest and most popular Batman villains. This first appearance has the double jeopardy of having a bright red cover, and a poster in the center which is often missing.
If your copy is without the poster, then it's worth about a third to a half of a complete copy.
Action Comics #252
1st Supergirl
Lowest price $500
Average price $7,000
Record price $50,000
After several tryouts, including Superman #123, Supergirl finally made an official debut in this tough key issue. It's valuable in any condition.
Brave and the Bold #34
1st Silver Age Hawkman
Lowest price $80
Average price $600
Record price $39,000
Hawkman is a huge character from the Golden Age who makes his Silver Age bow in this important issue.
Published in 1961, the same year as Fantastic Four #1, this book sold in CGC 9.0 for just $4,400 in April 2024.
Green Lantern #7
1st Sinestro
Lowest price $150
Average price $1,200
Record price $27,000
Sinestro is the first big Green Lantern comics villain of the Silver Age series. A very popular issue.
Surely overdue for an appearance in the DCU...
Brave and the Bold #25
1st Suicide Squad
Lowest price $200
Average price $700
Record price $25,000
Three issues before the introduction of Justice League of America, the long-running title Brave and the Bold created the Suicide Squad.
The original team bears little resemblance to the characters who starred in the movie. This is an incredibly tough book and nowhere near worth as much as it ought to be.
Action Comics #242
1st Brainiac
Lowest price $400
Average price $5,000
Record price $34,000
Surely Brainiac is long overdue for an appearance in the soon to expand DCU?
This is one of the toughest Action Comics key issues, with a purple cover that shows a lot of wear.
Adventure Comics #247
1st Legion of Super-Heroes
Lowest price $400
Average price $4,000
Record price $19,200
The Legion of Super-Heroes was a super-team of youngsters, led by Superboy.
A very tough Silver Age DC Comics key that is vastly under-valued.
Our Army at War #83
1st Sgt Rock
Lowest price $400
Average price $5,000
Record price $16,700
While war comics are a niche market for sure, there is no bigger character in the entire genre than Sgt Rock, the leader of Easy Company.
This is a brutally tough book, given its mostly black cover and relatively early publication date of 1959. DC Comics generally turn up in lower grade than Marvels from the same era.

Wonder Woman #98
1st Silver Age Wonder Woman; new origin story begins
Lowest price $200
Average price $1,000
Record price $10,000
A classic Diana vs Diana cover makes this, the first of an all-new three-issue origin story a very popular issue with collectors.
A tough book in high grade which should be much more valuable.
Showcase #9
1st Silver Age Lois Lane
Lowest price $200
Average price $1,500
Record price $12,000
A surprisingly tough and valuable (just not valuable enough in our opinion) comic book that doesn't change hands very often in grades above FN.
Strange Adventures #205
1st Deadman
Lowest price $75
Average price $500
Record price $4,100
Deadman is the most notable creation of this series in the 1960s. He has a future in the expanded DCU.
Long overdue a price bump.
Superboy #68
1st Bizarro
Lowest price $250
Average price $1,500
Record price $31,000
Bizarro would go on to infect every part of the Superman universe, with Bizarro versions of Superman characters and villains appearing over the years.
Long overdue for a DCU appearance, which surely would see values increase.
Batman #139
1st Bat-Girl
Lowest price $120
Average price $700
Record price $13,200
Betty Kane's first appearance as Bat-Girl makes this a nailed-on key issue.
With just 10 copies in the census of CGC 9.0 or higher, this book is impossible in high grade. It's extremely under-valued.
My Greatest Adventure #80
1st Doom Patrol
Lowest price $90
Average price $500
Record price $8,000
The Doom Patrol ran for decades in the DC Universe and are a possible subject for a future movie or TV series.
21 copies in the census of CGC 9.0 or higher makes this very tough in high grade.
Hawkman #4
1st Zatanna
Lowest price $80
Average price $750
Record price $11,400
Zatanna is a female magician and her first appearance is the standout book in this tough 1960s run.
The DCU could choose to explore a Doctor Strange-style direction, which would make this the obvious place to turn for a character.
Wonder Woman #105
1st Wonder Girl; origin finale
Lowest price $100
Average price $550
Record price $7,500
A tough book in high grade. A classic giant space bird cover.
Strange Adventures #180
1st Animal Man
Lowest price $40
Average price $350
Record price $7,500
Animal Man would make a cool subject for a movie or streaming series.
Definitely a long shot, but a book that's long been overlooked by value hunters.
Showcase #37
1st Metal Men
Lowest price $60
Average price $500
Record price $22,500
Metal Men are another long-running DC series that hasn't appeared in the DCU yet.
Only 16 copies in the CGC census are graded 9.0 or better. A rare book in high grade.
