Most Valuable Spider Man Horror Comic Books
If you think of Spider-Man, you might not immediately connect him to old horror comics.
Peter Parker changed the face of superhero comics, bringing real-world problems and challenges facing the typical readers of comic books... 1960s teens.
Spider-Man himself is the product of a horrific concept: a kid being bitten by a radioactive spider and developing the powers of an arachnid.
Many of the most popular Spider-Man villains have their roots in horror movie concepts.
We have included super-villains with horror movie-style super-powers, including humans mutated by exposure to chemicals, radiation or magnetic fields.
We also included the alien symbiote, as it resembles many of the classic horror movie monsters.
We excluded any humans who mimic superpowers, but do not have actual powers.

Amazing Spider-Man #4
First Sandman
Lowest price $750
Average price $1,500
Record price $174,000
Sandman has many parallels with horror movies. He became a human with the ability to reconstruct himself into different shapes and sizes after being exposed to radioactive sand at a nuclear testing facility.
Another Tobey Maguire movie villain, as well as a member of the Sinister Six. He's a cool villain who is due a reboot. The red cover is hard to find in nice shape.
Amazing Spider-Man #6
First Lizard
Lowest price $200
Average price $1,200
Record price $71,000
The gross horror-themed Lizard was the result of scientific experimentation gone horribly wrong. Lizard can regrow limbs, like the animal, and climb walls.
Lizard was an Andrew Garfield movie enemy. Could it be rebooted? I thought they did a great job of bringing him to the big screen.
Amazing Spider-Man #14
First Green Goblin
Lowest price $400
Average price $1,500
Record price $210,000
Norman Osborne is a horrific Spider-Man villain, whose exposure to chemicals he calls the "Goblin formula" permanently granted him superhuman powers and shattered his sanity.
This book is a double whammy! THE iconic Spider-Man villain, instantly recognizable even to non-geeks, and the antagonist to the first Tobey Maguire Spider-Man.
This book also features the Incredible Hulk in his first battle with Spidey, so Hulk fans have a reason to want a copy too.

Heavily tipped to appear in the MCU, the Scorpion is just one of the seemingly endless new villains introduced in the early years of Amazing Spider Man comics.

First Molten Man; rare in high grade
Lowest price $50
Average price $500
Record price $42,000
Mark Raxton accidentally covered himself in molten metal, granting him superpowers and an evil persona.
Molten Man is a pretty minor Spider-Man villain, but this issue is best known for being very tough to acquire in high grade, due to the all-black front cover.

First Rhino

Lowest price $100
Average price $400
Recent 9.8 Sale $12,500
Record price $26,400
The Morbius movie has come and gone, and it was not well received by fans.
Co-inciding with the downturn in the comics market and the pandemic bubble bursting, values of this book have gone off a cliff lately. It's still one of the classic Marvel horror comics.

Marvel Horror was briefly all the rage. Man-Wolf ran for two issues, but the speculation around the character was strong.
Until it wasn't. No longer a hot property.
Amazing Spider-Man #125
Origin of Man-Wolf
Lowest price $5
Average price $80
Record price $1,400
The back story of Man-Wolf is truly astonishing. Can you guess who his father is?

Amazing Spider-Man #149
Spider-Man Clone battle
Lowest price $10

Essentially the water equivalent of Sandman (see above), Hydro-Man was knocked overboard from a ship during a battle between Spider-Man and Sub-Mariner into the field of an experimental generator.
