What are Knickerbocker Lord of the Rings Toys Worth?

Gandalf in the Ralph Bakshi Lord of the Rings cartoonLong, long before Peter Jackson created his Oscar-winning trilogy of movies, Ralph Bakshi had the rights to create a two-movie cartoon based on the Tolkein novels.
The first one was completed in 1978, but the sequel was never made, for various reasons.
In 1979, Knickerbocker Toys created a licensed line of action figures.
The set consisted of eight figures based closely on the animated versions of the characters:
- Aragorn
- Frodo
- Frodo's horse
- Gandalf
- Gollum
- Ringwraith
- Ringwraith's horse
- Sam
The figures are very hard to source, especially their accessories, which are small and easily lost. They are worth a lot if you locate them.

Like most of the toys on this page, Frodo Knickerbocker figures don't show up too often. If it's missing the sword, then you are sadly looking at a much lower value.

Even though Frodo didn't spend a lot of time on horseback in the movie, Knickerbocker chose to make him a mount. Strange decision.

It's a shame that Knickerbocker only made one version of the Nazgul, but this one is nicely done. Weapons sell for $25-50 on their own.
